The Shelby Institute and the Shelby Scholars express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. Annette Shelby along with our heartfelt gratitude for her vision as a foundational leader in the creation of this transformational program. Her love and devotion to this endeavor will be appreciated and remembered forever.

The Shelby Institute for Policy and Leadership is honored by the Shelby family’s gracious decision to designate the Institute as a recipient of memorial contributions in tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Annette Shelby.

The Shelby Institute for Policy and Leadership is a nonpartisan, interdisciplinary and student-focused establishment dedicated to educating and training future leaders of the state and nation.

Founded in 2023 and guided by the vision of Senator and Dr. Shelby, the Shelby Institute utilizes experiential learning, undergraduate research and civic engagement to teach students about policy, leadership and public service.
