Distinguished Professorships

One of the highest faculty honors bestowed at the University of Alabama are Distinguished Research and Teaching Professorships. These appointments are made by the Board of Trustees to recognize faculty whose research or teaching accomplishments bring great credit to The University through their unstinting dedication to excellence in teaching and/or research in their academic discipline. By the nature of their appointment, these distinguished scholars and teachers make special contributions to the research, creative activity and teaching missions of the home department, school or college and University.
