New Faculty Orientation

Bryant Conference Center – Sellers Auditorium

Monday, August 19, 2019

7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Reception at 4 p.m.

Registration, breakfast, and photos begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by opening remarks from President Stuart Bell and Provost Kevin Whitaker at 8 a.m. President and Mrs. Bell host a reception for new faculty at 4 p.m. at the President’s Mansion.

When you arrive at the Bryant Conference Center, please go to the registration desk on the east side of the building (first floor) to check in. University photographers will take professional headshots as you arrive, so dress as you would like to appear in that picture (to be used for our websites and other publicity purposes).

Parking is available next to the Sewell-Thomas Baseball Stadium (just across the street from the Conference Center) with the use of your Faculty/Staff Parking tag.  If you do not have one at the time of orientation, please email Christa Morris at for a temporary parking pass.

All new faculty (even those who cannot attend the Aug. 19 events) should complete the following form: Orientation RSVP and New Faculty Survey. This allows us to verify your information and get information for your official UA nametag. Please respond to the link as soon as possible but no later than Monday, August 12.

Finally, all employees new to the University of Alabama should attend a benefits orientation offered by HR. See: for information.

In addition to the Aug. 19 events, the Office for Academic Affairs will host several other events throughout the year to welcome our new faculty to The Capstone. Please check this page often for updated meetings of interest to you.
