What course would you love to teach, if you had the opportunity?
We want you to propose your great ideas!
Legends 101 is a new course type designed to onboard new UA students to the UA academic culture – inspiring their intellectual curiosity and nurturing their growth as scholars and academic citizens. Legends 101 is required for all first-year and all first-time transfer students under the Built by Bama General Education plan which launches fall 2025. Over 100 UA faculty proposed Legends 101 courses for the 2025-2026 academic year, and applications for this cycle are closed.
Here are the details:
- Legends 101 Basics:
- One-credit-hour faculty overload course, $2,500 supplemental pay.
- Meets once per week through 15-week term.
- Multidisciplinary or cross-disciplinary in approach.
- Hands-on learning opportunities and active learning strategies are encouraged.
- Graded as A, B, C, NC.
- Course development guidance offered in collaboration with the UA Teaching Academy.
Based on the initial proposal (due September 18, 2024), the Legends 101 Course Committee has invited faculty to next stages in the proposal process, to conclude by November 15.
