Leadership U

Leadership U,  offered by the Office for Academic Affairs, is a University of Alabama program to prepare faculty and staff in leadership positions to take on increasing levels of responsibility within their organization.

Eligibility 

Leadership U is open to mid-level faculty (tenure track and renewable contract) and staff who display a potential to develop into future leaders and who have an interest in developing higher education leadership knowledge, skills, and values.  The program combines activities and learning outcomes for personal leadership growth and a deeper understanding of university structure and function.

Requirements of Leadership U 

Fellows selected are expected to attend bi-monthly (90 minute) meetings during the academic year.  In addition, special events with university leaders and several half-days and/or full-day professional development opportunities throughout the year are required.

Application Deadline 

Candidate Leadership U Applications are due May 17, 2023, and the system will allow time for approvers to submit. You can access Leadership U application here.

If you are interested in leadership U, we encourage you to apply. If you would like to nominate a staff or faculty member to Leadership U, please forward the leadership application to the nominee. The application process will route to the Direct Supervisor/Department Chair, Vice President/Dean for approval.
