I would like to invite you to apply for the 2016-2017 Faculty Fellows in Service-Learning program, a one-year fellowship designed to accelerate the work of ten faculty members who are eager to develop exemplary curricular approaches to education. Sponsored by the Center for Ethics & Social Responsibility, Faculty Fellows create courses that promote active and ethical citizenship, social responsibility and engagement through service-learning.
The program is structured around a series of three workshops per semester, each focusing on an aspect of service-learning pedagogy. Faculty Fellows will receive a $1,500 service-learning enhancement grant and one-on-one assistance to design a new course (or modify an existing one) to include a service-learning component.
The program is open to all faculty involved in undergraduate teaching. Interested faculty should complete an application and submit all supporting documents by 4:30 p.m. on May 27, 2016. For more information, please see the attached document or contact Megan Bailey at 348-1691 or email@example.com. You can also find information on the previous Faculty Fellows on CESR's website, at http://cesr.ua.edu/initiatives/faculty-fellows-in-service-learning/.
I believe that service learning is fundamental to The University of Alabama's mission to prepare students to serve as effective, engaged and ethical citizens.
