Those who plan to travel to these countries for non-University related activities need to fully understand the health risks associated with travel to affected areas and that they may be subject to quarantine, screening, and travel restrictions, which may include not being allowed to return to campus until they have been cleared by the appropriate medical personnel.
Any faculty, staff, or students planning to travel on their own to Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, or Mali should contact the Office of the Provost (205-348-4892) prior to their departure to provide relevant travel information (name, local contact and residential information, and planned date of return to the United States). If you plan to travel, we encourage you to monitor the developments regarding Ebola and stay updated on CDC and Alabama Department of Public Health recommendations as well as changes in University requirements. The University may provide updates from time to time as the situation and recommendations evolve.
Thank you for your commitment to your own health and well-being as well as your contribution to a safe campus environment.
